New Friends in the Kitchen

Well, this is embarrassing! I confess! I just recently became involved in eating the “proper food” to stay healthy. Consequently, I have encounter ten new friends that I am considering to keep forever in my kitchen and life. Curious? Let's meet them!

Beetroot- I love the redness! This red beauty has many great properties for your health. It contains potassium, magnesium and iron as well as vitamins A, B6 and C, and folic acid. So, go red!

Mushroom- Well, what can I say? I use it for everything now. You can find it my sauces, salads and so on. Benefits? Mushrooms are a good source of B vitamins, particularly riboflavin, niacin and pantothenic acid. They are also the only plant food that contains the vitamin D! (That is useful to know if you don’t like to get it from the Sun :)

Garlic- I am not telling! Go and read my garlic article! :)

Lemon- There is also an article about why I like it so much! Go find it! :)

Asparagus- They are to die for if you sautéed them with butter! Well, this one is loaded with nutrients! Asparagus is a very good source of fiber, folate, and vitamins A, C, E and K. So cute!

Spinach- I know and I am sorry! I was used to eat just green lettuce before! Spinach is my hero nowadays! I also use it quite a lot! It turns out that it has many benefits, but my favorite one is: Anti-Cancer and Anti-Inflammatory Antioxidants.

Celery- Omg! So yummy! I love to cook it with my corned beef. Celery also has many healthy properties. I love that is a low calorie food and aids with digestion! Celery you rock!

Olive Oil Extra Virgin – Well, I will just say that is considered as one of the “Healthiest Fat on Earth”! I think no other explanation is needed it.

Salmon- Yes! I love it! I eat it every week! It is a great source of Omega- 3 fatty acids. Salmon also helps you sleep! Did you know that Salmon is an excellent source of tryptophan, which is an all-natural sedative? Studies show that tryptophan increases sleepiness in subjects with mild insomnia and helps to shorten the time it takes to fall asleep. Not bad for a Salmon!

Done! Those are my “New Friends” in the kitchen! Do you have them as friends as well? Let me know how they have been treating you? I am sure that there will be no complains!  Share your stories with me!
